Flags of the Counties of Sweden
Sweden is divided into provinces known as län. In English, län are usually called “counties”. There are 21 counties in Sweden, and each of them has their own unique flag to represent them. Most counties have had the same flag for hundreds of years, and people will usually identify strongly with their county flag, such as by flying the flag on their property. Local businesses and institutions will also usually fly the county flag.
Flag of Stockholm – Stockholm redesigned its flag in 2011. The simplistic and modern design of the new flag mimics the shape of the national flag of Sweden. Its colours represent a “diverse and forward-thinking image of the city.”
